Quiet light,
vast places.
Photographs by Piet van Weel, made slowly across mountains, deserts, and coastlines — and the long pauses in between.

Work in chapters,
not single frames.
The trips that shape me come back as bodies of work — sequences of images from the same place, the same week, the same light. New series will appear here as the archive comes online.

“You stay long enough in a place — eventually it shows you something only it can show. The picture I came for is rarely the one I leave with.”— Piet van Weel
A camera, a pair of boots, and a long list of places I’d never seen.
Photography started, for me, as a way to slow travel down. Walking longer routes. Sitting still until the light changed. Coming home with a few frames that felt honest.
The work is mostly about staying long enough to see what a place actually looks like. A fuller bio and the actual archive are on the way — check back soon.
Let’s make something.
I take on a small number of editorial and commercial projects each year. If you’d like to talk, I’d love to hear from you.
